Once upon a time, home cinemas were pretty much the domain of only the rich and famous, but as technology has developed over the decades, there’s now so much scope for creating a cinema room that will hugely enhance your home viewing experience. At Veritais, we are here to help all customers create an accessible cinema or media room that perfectly fits their needs and budget, with complete connectivity and easy to use controls.
If you have questions about the elements that make up a great home cinema, read our guide below:
Choosing Your Home Cinema System
Typically, a home cinema includes the following components to provide a dynamic viewing and listening experience.
HD TV or Projector and Screen
Needless to say, when it comes to creating a cinema-like experience in your own home, bigger is always better, but it’s also as important to invest in as high definition a picture as you can.
For the sharpest picture quality TV, a 4K minimum viewing platform is best. If you are dedicating a room specifically to home cinema, then you can go big with a 4K projector and a screen that may measure as many as 8 feet or more across to create a true cinema picture experience.
Ideally, your projector and screen should be fixed in position to ensure the best picture. You may choose to invest in a motorised screen that is retracted and hides away when not in use.
Video Sources
Needless to say, you will need the video devices from which to watch your favourite movies, documentaries, TV series and more. In addition to your satellite or cable services, you’ll probably want to invest in a Blu-ray and media players, and a range of HD streaming services (for example, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney + etc).
If you are also a keen gamer, you can also consider fitting a range of games consoles into your home cinema setup.
Speaker Systems
It’s important to choose speaker systems to suit your room and the kind of sound experience you would like to create. For example, in a large enough room, you might want to install the latest surround sound technology, such as Dolby Atmos, which will require a range of speakers to create the intended effect.
How many different speakers will you need? There are so many speaker combinations available to create home cinema sound. You may choose to install speakers behind your screen, on the walls around you, in the ceiling above and with subwoofers at the front and rear of the sound for a rich bass effect.
With many years of experience in designing and implementing sound systems, working with the latest products and technologies, we can help you choose the perfect speaker combination.
Receivers and Power Amp
It’s important to choose your speakers before you choose appropriate receivers, as the bigger the speakers, the more power they need. Your home cinema receiver is what powers your home cinema, and as the brain, it also connects all elements.
Your receivers receive and process the information provided by video sources, and send audio and video signals to your speakers and screen. Your receiver must have enough channels to supply your chosen system.
You may wish to choose separate processing technologies, and choose an amp and a pre-amp to amplify and distribute signals. To create the best possible sound system, you can add more amps, dedicated to each speaker, creating more power to generate more powerful sound.
Lighting
When your room is set to cinema mode, you will want low light to experience the best picture. We can advise on and install bespoke lighting systems to provide enough light to move around the room safely, without creating reflections on the screen.
Controls
Whilst a cinematic setup with so many elements may sound extremely complicated and difficult to operate, we are here to design, programme and activate the integrated smart control systems to ensure that enjoying your home cinema can be activated at the touch of a button. We integrate all technology, ensuring the ultimate home cinema experience is at your fingertips.
