Hyde Park residence: touch button control in every room
Veritais Ltd has just completed an extremely high value project in an opulent apartment in Hyde Park, London. While the apartment was being refurbished, Veritais carried out the simultaneous installation to provide an entertainment and control system throughout, using products of the highest available specification. The fit-out was designed around the various stages of the building project and took a year to complete. There’s touch button control in every room for entertainment and quality sound experience from Veritais.
Veritais was engaged by the owners, having already carried out installations on other properties. The company worked closely with the interior designers as well as project managers De Rossa SA (London).
Music and visual entertainment have been made available throughout the property, at the centre of which is a Sonos system which has access to online content including internet Radio as well as all of the music stored on a computer, hard drive or iTunes library. Any tablet or phone can control the system, and music from an individual device – a person’s own iPhone, for example, can be sent straight to the system without having to load it onto the media library. The apartment has been divided into ‘zones’ where each is controlled, but all can be grouped together, if, for example, there was a party with music being broadcast throughout the property, at just the touch of the screen button.
A feature of the property is the invisible in-wall speakers, which were plastered in during decoration. Sub-woofers are also installed in the kitchen, dining room, sitting room and formal reception room to deliver outstanding sound. The reception room and TV/sitting room also feature on-wall cube speakers. The TV room has a Samsung frameless 55” 3D TV with built-in Freeview HD, voice recognition and webcam for Skype which is installed on a wall-mounted swivel bracket in a recess made during the build project. Here five on-wall speakers also provide surround sound, from a Yamaha receiver, and there’s a 3D Blu-Ray player allows for playback of 3D Blu-rays, DVD’s and CD’s with built in connections for games consoles such as XBox.
An all-in-one remote control provides one-button activation of activities such as ‘Watch TV’ or ‘Watch DVD’ where the system is automatically setup. This also allows for the cabinet doors to be closed permanently with control of the equipment inside. Everything can be controlled from each person’s own iPhone / Android type devise by downloading a free app.
The master bedroom also has a TV with all the same features and controls, this time a Samsung frameless 46” 3D TV, and speakers. Here an Apple TV allows for iTunes content to be purchased/ played on the TV and a Sonos Zoneplayer allows for music to be played from the Sonos system.
Even in the ensuite, a pair of invisible transducer speakers were installed under the sink area to create music without seeing any speakers. An in-wall volume control allows the music to be turned up or down as the sound links to the master bedroom.
In two other bedrooms a TV and data plate is provided low-level on the wall so that a TV can be connected to watch Freeview and also directly to the network if it is a Smart TV. Connection types mean any emerging new TV service can also be connected.
A small AV Rack has been installed in the reception room to house the main equipment for the system which consists of a gigabit network switch to provide a fast reliable wired and wireless network throughout the house, a Freeview amplifier to enable TV to be distributed throughout the house and the main phone line and router (BT Homehub etc.). Wi-Fi is provided throughout.
Veritais provided other non-AV systems as well including the controls for the lighting system and a doorbell next to the front door has an in-built camera wired to 2 monitors inside the property so people can check who is there. An alarm system is also installed to detect vibration and movement.
