Big screen media and superior sound for luxury renovation
Veritais Ltd, a leading consultancy and supplier of audio-visual systems for luxury homes and superyachts, have provided an extremely high specification of audio visual systems and equipment as well as controls for lighting, heating and air conditioning to a luxury urban property that has been totally renovated in the Birmingham area.
Veritais are fast building themselves a name for through-property control systems for audio visual, based on their impressive installations on the world’s largest superyachts. Recommended by architects Wilkinson Beven, with whom Veritais has collaborated on a number of similar projects, this latest project offers the most up to date technology available, while ensuring that functionality is straightforward.
“The owner knew exactly what he wanted,” said David Milner of Veritais. “He had a specific requirement of the type of functionality he was looking for in each room in the house and we were able to follow his brief to fulfil all areas.
The audio visual system consists of independent zones that can play video and audio sources locally as well as sharing media, including up to 3600 DVDs, stored on a 32TB Drive installed in a rack space.
In-wall and wireless 7” touch screens control each room’s AV system including the TV, Amplifier, Media Player, Blu Ray / DVD player, Apple TV, lighting, heating, CCTV, Alarm, Door Entry System, gate & garage monitoring system, Curtains and blinds, using an on-TV interface. A handheld Zigbee remote can also control the same operations via the TV interface (pictured). The interface is always the same in every room to provide simplicity, continuity and an intuitive operation for the owners and guests . The system also includes a ‘myHome’ license to allow up to 50 apple devices, android devices and computers to control the system.
A Control4 Zone Controller/Audio Streamer allows access to the complete music library stored on the server and wireless music bridge to allow playback of music in each zone via Airplay, Bluetooth or DLNA, as well as internet radio. A Kaleidescape HD Movie player allows for playback of Blu-Ray and DVD movies ripped onto the server, with an Apple TV providing playback of iTunes purchases. Kaleidescape is the world’s first and only Blu-ray quality movie download store, with its intuitive movie guide. Each of the kitchens, open plan living area, reception room, study master bedroom and three other bedrooms, as well as the cinema room benefit from this system. Selected rooms also have a Cambridge Audio HD AV Receiver connected to multiple invisible plaster-in wall speakers and subwoofer to provide great quality sound without seeing any speakers.
Several areas have their own wireless music receiver so you can Airplay music straight to the in-wall speakers, which are fitted throughout the house, from your own device. Music can also be grouped together in any rooms throughout the property for ‘party mode’.
Samsung frameless 3D, Ultra HD 4K TVs are mounted in the kitchen (75”), drawing room and master bedroom (65”) study, further bedrooms and second kitchen (both 48”). These rooms also benefit from a Sky TV decoder, a native decoder and Kaleidescape HD Media player with Apple TV also allowing guests to send their own movies to the system wirelessly by Airplay. A wireless music bridge allows playback of music via Airplay.
A 4D cinema package has been installed in an advanced cinema room with Control4 control, featuring a 3m screen wide cinema format with automated format, D-Box motion seating with arm rest 7” touch Screen, light control and the same AV package as the other main rooms including Sky Decoder, Apple TV, etc.
Music can be played in the garden via a Cloud 6-channel power amplifier connected to 16 unseen waterproof garden speakers and two subwoofers. Portable 7” touch screen is provided here for control.
Veritais has provided a solution to lighting control too, with over 300 circuits able to be individually controlled, again via the 7” in wall touch screens using the Control4 interface or from lighting keypads which have been installed throughout the property. Blind and curtain controls have also been supplied in the property including blackout blinds for the cinema room.
A Mitsubishi Electric HVAC system has also been integrated into the Control4 interface. Once connected it allows the Control4 system to monitor and control individually all Air Conditioning Indoor units on the Bus line. CCTV and Gate Entry are also part of the controllable interface.
Powerful iWi-Fi system points from a central POE Ethernet switch provides full coverage throughout the property including the outdoor areas, while a fibre optic link between the main house and pool area in the rear garden allows for future connectivity.
