AV installation contract on explorer yacht complete

Veritais Ltd, the leading supplier of audio systems for luxury yachts, has just completed a major audio installation on the 88 metre explorer motor yacht Arctic P.
Originally built in 1969 as a research vessel, Arctic P was converted to become a privately owned Superyacht with a focus on guest entertainment. A very specific approach was required for the installation of an advanced system throughout the large low aspect ‘beach club’ entertainment area of the yacht which makes up the aft deck. The area is prone to wave backwash while underway in heavy seas and can become submerged. A totally waterproof solution was needed, while at the same time as delivering outstanding audio and visual results.
Veritais sourced state of the art components including CAT (California Audio Technology) speakers, amplifiers and DSPs (digital system processors) which are manufactured only from Formula 1 type performance materials. CAT components are designed to handle the elements and stress of harsh sun, salt water, vibrations, excessive heat, cold and expansion/contraction. The company also fitted RTI control systems, which have assured durability and which enable the full system to work seamlessly with touch screen control. A cinema sized 75 inch television screen is protected from the elements behind bullet proof glass, and a karaoke system will also form part of the installation. The custom application to the audio system will ensure that every component can stand up to submersion, and can be covered up for long crossings and challenging conditions. Custom built marine hatches have been built around each of the components to protect them while at sea.
The audio experience also extends to include Arctic P’s helipad which is situated directly above the beach club on its roof. The end result is easily controllable ultra-high performance audio and visual reproduction in terms of both accuracy and clarity.
“This has been an exciting and fulfilling challenge for us here at Veritais,” comments Managing Director David Milner “and we are pleased with the success of the project.”
He adds “The spacious aft deck is 15m wide and is the main outdoor recreation area on board. Because of the yacht’s original design purpose the main accommodation decks are situated in the forward half of the vessel. The aft deck takes up the aft 50% and is only a few feet above sea level, not a problem in calm and moderate seas or at anchor, but the whole area is designed to be secured at sea and is capable of filling up with water – the table and bar area are both retractable, for example.”
Arctic P, which has a steel hull, has a cruising speed of 20 knots, max speed of 22 knots. Her 1.4 million-litre fuel tanks mean she can lap half the world before refuelling. Originally built as a research vessel she was bought and converted to luxury private use by the current owner’s late father. She is amongst the top 50 largest yachts in the world, accommodating 12 guests and up to 25 crew.
